Paper Abstract:      The goal of the presented work is to investigate the preferences – and to some extend mental models – of users of robotic home companions. It was realized with a conjoint analytical approach that allows the measurement of importance of certain attributes of robotic home companions as such (e.g. embodiment vs. mobility) and preferences of attribute specifications (e.g. humanoid vs. animal like appearance). Two conjoint analyses were conducted with three attributes each (in order of importance): Study 1: embodiment, purpose of companion, mobility. Study 2: activity of companion, goal of interaction, memory.
